Baker Man Sentenced After Pleading Guilty to Sexual Abuse Charges

On October 15, 2018, in Baker County Circuit Court, Joshua Rulon Page of the 300 block of 2ndSt. Baker City, Oregon, was sentenced to over eleven years in prison following a sentencing hearing in which he pled guilty to one count of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree and another count of Attempted Sexual Abuse in the First Degree. One other count of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree was dismissed as part of a plea agreement with the District Attorney’s Office. Page was sentenced to 75 months on the Sexual Abuse count and 60 months on the Attempted Sexual Abuse count and the charges ran consecutive for a total of 135 months with the Oregon Department of Corrections. Page will be on post- prison supervision for 45 months following his release from prison and will be required to register as a sex offender. Page was charged with sexually touching a seven- year old girl that he knew. Daniel Pelayo and Shannon Regan of the Baker City Police Department did an excellent job investigating the case. The victim was forensically interviewed at the Baker County Child Assessment Center at Saint Alphonsus Hospital by Katie Rudi which was also an important part of the investigation that led to the plea. The victim’s mother was pleased that the case resulted in a long prison sentence without her daughter having to go through a trial.
