Four Men Charged with Game Violations

Thanks to the Diligence of Community, Four Men have been Charged with Multiple Game Violations

After a lengthy illegal poaching investigation by the Oregon State Police Game Division, four Astoria men have been charged with multiple game violations in the Lookout Mountain Unit by Baker County District Attorney Matt Shirtcliff.

 

“Citizen participation lead to the arrest of the individuals charged,” said Shirtcliff. “The diligence of the community is essential in a well-functioning criminal justice system and a key component to maintaining this great quality of life we have in Baker County,” said Shirtcliff.

 

On September 25, 2017, 20-year old Chase Rusinovich, 21-year old Austin Barter, 21-year old Max Andersen and 21-year old Jake Marinovich all from Astoria, Oregon were charged after diligent citizens reported finding dead mule deer. The illegal activity is alleged to have occurred between November of 2015 through November of 2016.

 

Jake Marincovich was charged for Aiding the Taking of a Buck Mule Deer during closed season and Offensive Littering.

 

Max Andersen was charged with Unlawful Hunting of Wildlife during closed season, three counts of Unlawful Taking of a Buck Mule Deer, Unlawful Taking of a Doe Mule Deer, three counts of Unlawful Waste of Wildlife, Hunting without a Valid License, Hunting during a Closed Season and Offensive Littering.

 

Austin Barter was charged with Unlawful Hunting of Wildlife, Unlawful Taking of a Buck Mule deer, Unlawful Taking of a Doe Mule deer, two counts of Unlawful Waste of Wildlife, Aiding the Unlawful Taking of Mule deer, Unlawful Possession of Wildlife and Offensive Littering.

 

Chase Rusinovich charged with Unlawful Hunting of Wildlife, two counts of Unlawful Taking of a Buck Mule Deer and one count of Unlawful Taking of a Doe Mule Deer, and three counts of Unlawful Waste of Wildlife.

 

Some of the animals illegally taken were trophy mule deer. Under Oregon State Statute, the penalties can include up to $7500 restitution per deer and mandatory hunting license suspension.
